23 Mar SustainaBlue Kickoff Meeting
The SustainaBlue Kickoff meeting that took place in Kuala Terengganu, Malaysia, was constructive and rewarding, considering the preparatory work and the warm hospitality of UMT, as well as the active participation of partners from Greece, Cyprus, and Indonesia.
During the two-day kickoff meeting, the participants reflected on the project objectives, foreseen activities, and deliverables, providing all partners with a comprehensive understanding of each stage of the project’s implementation. The meeting also facilitated personal acquaintance among the partners and allowed for an exchange of views on issues related to the blue economy, as well as on how to promote and further develop the concept within different national contexts. The participants also had the opportunity to visit different departments within Universiti Malaysia Terengganu and learn about existing local initiatives that could be further utilised in the context of the current project.
This EU co-funded project aims to enhance the sustainable blue economy in four HEIs in Malaysia and Indonesia. It foresees a series of interdependent work packages that focus on strengthening the interconnection between education, the labour market, and society within the framework of the blue economy and green transition. The project is expected to run for 36 months, from December 2023 to November 2026, and its successful completion will depend on the coordinated cooperation of all partners.
The conclusion of the meeting marked the official start of a truly promising project, with enthusiastic commitment from all participants to contribute their best efforts.
